There are many reasons why Vancouver Island was voted one of the ‘World's Top Ten Islands’ in 2014 by Travel and Leisure Magazine. It has an abundance of rain forests, beaches, mountains, oceans, rivers and lakes that include a vast range of wildlife species. Sproat Lake is the most beautiful and most popular lake among tourists and Vancouver Island residents.

Located just off the north shore of Highway 4, it is over 25 kilometers in length with more than 300 kilometers of shoreline and a surface just shy of 10,000 acres. Its azure water is surrounded with mountains that are filled with lush forestry, being warmed by the Port Alberni Valley sunshine. Following its beautiful scenery is endless summer recreational activities that are versatile for tourists to enjoy and that are easily accessible. Its serene and warm water allows for perfect swimming, wake boarding, tubing, and water skiing conditions, or even a tranquil paddle in your canoe or kayak. After surfing the wake, gear up a fishing rod and see what great fishing this lake has to offer! Sproat Lake is teeming with large native cutthroats, rainbow trout, coho, and sockeye salmon, which can even be caught by fishing off shore, or on a dock in front of a prestige Sproat Lake property.  Embrace the therapeutic fresh air by hiking and exploring through the verdant wilderness, and enjoying a picnic on a cliff overlooking the exquisiteness that Sprout Lake has to offer, or on a sandy beach on one of its provincial parks.

Don’t have a boat? No problem! There are many local businesses that rent out boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, wake boards, etc.  Wherever your interests lie, Sproat Lake has something to offer to you - make this summer one you will not forget!
